While this is a travel blog and not specifically a hiking blog, hiking is something I do a lot of when I travel. Just as I love to slide down mountains in winter, I love to hike and climb up them when there’s no snow to slide on. I’m descended from a famous mountaineer and the mountain bug does seem to run in the family, and I’ve certainly received a good dose; the majority of the countries that interest me most are mountainous ones, and my favourite region in any given country is usually the bit with all the mountains! Of course in some countries there are mountains almost everywhere – probably why I like Japan so much!
